Cycling race over the Great Belt affects traffic on Saturday

On Saturday, September 7, 2024, over 2,000 cyclists will cross the Great Belt as part of Denmark's longest recreational cycling race from Aarhus to Copenhagen. The bridge will remain open throughout the race, but longer travel times are expected. Therefore, leave home early and preferably cross the Great Belt before 1:00 PM or after 9:00 PM.

How traffic is affected
During the race During the race, there will be two-way traffic in the westbound lanes towards Funen and Jutland, and the road status will change to a country road with a speed limit of 80 km/h and overtaking is prohibited.

During this period, the trip across the bridge is expected to take an additional 10-15 minutes.

Leave home well in advance
The bridge will be closed twice for 45 minutes each, respectively in the afternoon at 2:30 PM and again in the evening at 8:00 PM to redirect traffic. There will be waiting times during the traffic redirection. Therefore, leave home in good time and preferably cross the Great Belt before 1:00 PM or after 9:00 PM.
