Gran Fondo cycling event, Saturday 2 September

On Saturday 2 September, over 4,500 cyclists will cross the Storebælt Bridge as part of the Gran Fondo cycling event. The bridge will be open throughout the event, but longer travel times may occur if you are going to Funen or Jutland. Please set off in good time and preferably cross the bridge before 14:00 or after 20:00.

Effect on traffic

During the race, traffic will flow as normal: 110 km/h in the two lanes in the direction of Zealand. Between approx. 15:00 and 20:00, however, there will only be one lane open to traffic in the direction of Funen and Jutland and a speed limit of 70 km/h. Overtaking is prohibited.

By respecting the speed limit of 70 km/h, road users will help to ensure that everyone crosses the bridge safely when the cyclists go past.

The one-lane restriction will take place at 14.35. We would therefore advise you to cross the bridge before 14.00. Traffic is expected to return to normal after the event at around 20:00.

There will be a short waiting time while the switch is made to two-way traffic. This means that the bridge will be completely closed to traffic for about 30 minutes while the traffic management procedures are put in place.
