In 2020, A/S Storebælt launched a project to improve safety and accessibility on the Storebælt Bridge. The first part of the work involved installing mobile crash barriers at four locations on the bridge so that traffic can be quickly diverted to the opposite lane in the event of an accident or major roadworks on the bridge. This section is complete and has been in use for several rounds since 2021.
