As always, the last day of school on Friday marks the start of the holidays and travel activities. Although there are very few COVID-19 restrictions this summer, many are still expected to spend their holidays in Denmark this year. This means higher levels of traffic on the roads and also over the Storebælt Bridge. Saturdays, in particular, are busy days.

Most traffic is expected on Saturdays every weekend in July and the first weekend in August between 10.00 and 15.00. Sundays in weeks 30 and 31 will also be busy between 14.00 and 18.00. During the first weekends, traffic is expected to be most dense in the direction of Funen/Jutland, while during the last weekends, most cars will be driving in the direction of Zealand.

To avoid additional waiting time during your trip, it’s a good idea to pay with your bizz or number plate payment agreement using the green express lanes, which have a speed limit of 50 km/h.

- In addition to avoiding the additional waiting time, you also get the cheapest trip across the bridge, saving at least DKK 50 per crossing. That’s enough for an extra ice cream on holiday, says head of the toll booth, Jens Kjær Nielsen, and continues:

- However, it’s important to be well-prepared for the trip before you leave home. Always check that your payment card is up to date. You’ll then be certain that your bizz or number plate payment agreement will work when you get to the toll booth.

It’s still possible to get a number plate payment agreement before the summer holidays. It can be used for payment just 20 minutes after it has been set up.

The Storebælt Bridge’s toll booths have been upgraded with new technology, with self-service booths in both the card and cash lanes. Help is still available if you press the red help button. You’ll be put through to an employee who will help you safely get through the toll booth and on your way.

Good advice for your holiday trip

  • Have you got a new payment card? If so, remember to update your agreement. Otherwise, you run the risk of the barrier not going up. Update or check your information at brobizz.com.
  • If you don’t have a bizz, you can still sign up for a number plate agreement and save at least DKK 50 on your trip across the Storebælt Bridge. The agreement can be used after just 20 minutes. Sign up at brobizz.com
  • Keep up to date on the conditions on the bridge via the traffic announcements on Storebaelt.dk and Storebælt’s Facebook page, or sign up for our SMS service (send BRO INFO to 1231).
